Minimum Lubrication - Oil Pump - Oil Reservoir - Service

Minimum Lubrication - Oil Pump Assembly - Oil Reservoir - Service

Do this procedure when there is contamination ("sludge") [1] visible in the oil reservoir. This procedure applies to machines that have the minimum lubrication oil pump that has (1) or (2) drip-sight glasses [2] at the top of the oil reservoir.

If you have a Bijur mechanical oil pump with or without the drip sight glass installed, do the Bijur - Mechanical - Oil Pump - Service and Test procedure.

Refer to Spindle Lubrication Systems Identification for details on the different types of spindle lubrications systems used on Haas machines.

Step 1

Support the reservoir tank, then remove the (4) screws that hold the tank to the pump assembly.

Empty the tank.

caution: Properly discard or recycle all used oil.

Clean the reservoir to remove built up contamination ('sludge").

Step 2

Install the oil pump assembly. (Refer to steps 1 to 3 in the opposite order.)

Fill the reservoir to the  MAX fill line [1].

note: To prevent build up of contamination, use Mobil SHC 625, Mobil 1 5W-20, or Mobil 1 10W-30. Do not use Mobil Vactra #2.

When you use Vactra #2, contamination ("sludge") collects in the reservoir. This causes the pump assembly to become clogged.

The service technicians at your Haas Factory Outlet (HFO) have the training, experience, and are certified to do these tasks safely and correctly. You should not do machine repair or service procedures unless you are qualified and knowledgeable about the processes.

Danger: Some service procedures can be dangerous or life-threatening. DO NOT attempt a procedure that you do not completely understand. Contact your Haas Factory Outlet (HFO) and schedule a service technician visit if you have any doubts about doing a procedure.
