Supplemental Washdown-Hose - Introduction

The Supplemental Washdown-Hose features include:
  • The ability to easily clean chips from hard-to-reach areas on large machines.
  • Easy installation in a location that is convenient for the customer's application.
Safety Notes
Caution: When you do maintenance or repair on CNC machines and their components, you must always follow basic safety precautions. This decreases the risk of injury and mechanical damage.

Do these steps before you do work in the machine or in the control cabinet:
  • Set the main circuit breaker to the OFF position.
  • Use an approved lock with an approved safety tag. Always follow lock-out procedures in accordance to local government rules.
  • After turning off the machine, wait at least 5 minutes before working in the control cabinet, to allow power to dissipate. Wait for the voltage indicator LED on the vector drive to go off completely.
  • Always turn off the main air supply when you work on any part of the pneumatic system.
  • Make sure to rest the spindle head on a block of wood when work is done on a vertical axis. This will prevent any unintended movement that could result in the axis falling.
  • Never alter any safety circuits on the machine.
You should not do machine repair or service procedures unless you are qualified and knowledgeable about the processes. Serious damage to the machine components can result in costly repairs. The service technicians at your Haas Factory Outlet (HFO) have the training and experience, and are certified to do these tasks safely and correctly. The repair and service work performed by your HFO is protected with a limited warranty.
danger: Some service procedures can be dangerous or life-threatening. DO NOT attempt a procedure that you do not fully understand. If you have any doubts about doing a procedure contact your Haas Factory Outlet (HFO) and schedule a service visit.

Machine Compatibility

You can install the Supplemental Washdown-Hose on all Haas machines with a spare garden-hose fitting on the Coolant Manifold Assembly.

For all other machines you must install a garden-hose fitting to the coolant pump system. The kit does not include the parts to install these fittings.

Supplemental Washdown-Hose - Installation

Step 1

Connect the HOSE [B] to a garden-hose fitting [1or 2] on the coolant system.

A common location of an available garden-hose fitting is on the coolant manifold assembly [1] or the cast coolant filter [2].

note: If the machine does not have an available garden-hose fitting, install a garden-hose fitting onto the coolant pump system. The kit does not include the parts to install these fittings.

Step 2

Find a location on the machine to install the HOLSTER [D] for the washdown gun.

note: The hose is 25 ft (7.6 m) long. Be sure to stay in that limit.

Hold the HOLSTER [D] at that location.

Make a mark at the (3) screw locations [2]. Use a punch or a pen.

Use the illustration in Step 3 to find the location of the drain hole.

Step 3

Measure the dimensions from the hole locations in Step 2.

Make a mark for the center [1] of the drain hole. The diameter of the drain hole is 1.0" (2.5 cm).

Use a hole saw to cut the drain hole.

Step 4

Hold the holster gasket onto the enclosure. Attach the HOLSTER [D] to the enclosure.

Use the (3) SCREWS, PPHS [E].

note: If you damage the sheet metal, use the (3) SCREWS, FBHCS [C] and the (3) NUTS [F]. Drill (3) 0.266" (6.75 mm) holes.

Attach the NOZZLE [A] to the end of the HOSE [B].

Put the NOZZLE [A] in the HOLSTER [D].

Press COOLANT to start the coolant pump.

Examine all of the fittings for leaks.
