Mill - Spindle - External Temperature - Measurement

Prerequisites

Tools Required:
  • IR (infrared) thermometer

Step 1

Put a piece of masking tape on the spindle nose.

Step 2

Warm-up the spindle. Run the spindle at half the maximum RPM for 15 minutes.

Step 3

The spindle warm-up (continued): Run the spindle at maximum RPM for 40 minutes.

Step 4

Use an IR (infrared) thermometer on the masking tape to measure spindle temperature.

Step 5

If the spindle temperature is more than 150ºF (66ºC), stop the spindle. The spindle is too hot.

Be aware: Many service and repair procedures should be done only by authorized personnel. The service technicians at your Haas Factory Outlet (HFO) have the training, experience, and are certified to do these tasks safely and correctly. You should not do machine repair or service procedures unless you are qualified and knowledgeable about the processes.

Danger: Some service procedures can be dangerous or life-threatening. DO NOT attempt a procedure that you do not completely understand. Contact your Haas Factory Outlet (HFO) and schedule a service technician visit if you have any doubts about doing a procedure.
