Cabinet Cooler - Installation - Introduction

The Cabinet Cooler features include:
  • Automatically operates when the machine operates.
  • An air conditioning unit to keep the control cabinet cool at all times.
  • Maintains a control cabinet temperature 20°F (7°C) cooler than the operating temperature.
Safety Notes
Caution: When you do maintenance or repair on CNC machines and their components, you must always follow basic safety precautions. This decreases the risk of injury and mechanical damage.

Do these steps before you do work in the machine or in the control cabinet:
  • Set the main circuit breaker to the OFF position.
  • Use an approved lock with an approved safety tag. Always follow lock-out procedures in accordance to local government rules.
  • After turning off the machine, wait at least 5 minutes before working in the control cabinet, to allow power to dissipate. Wait for the voltage indicator LED on the vector drive to go off completely.
  • Always turn off the main air supply when you work on any part of the pneumatic system.
  • Make sure to rest the spindle head on a block of wood when work is done on a vertical axis. This will prevent any unintended movement that could result in the axis falling.
  • Never alter any safety circuits on the machine.
You should not do machine repair or service procedures unless you are qualified and knowledgeable about the processes. Serious damage to the machine components can result in costly repairs. The service technicians at your Haas Factory Outlet (HFO) have the training and experience, and are certified to do these tasks safely and correctly. The repair and service work performed by your HFO is protected with a limited warranty.
danger: Some service procedures can be dangerous or life-threatening. DO NOT attempt a procedure that you do not fully understand. If you have any doubts about doing a procedure contact your Haas Factory Outlet (HFO) and schedule a service visit.

Step 1

Push POWER OFF. Set the main circuit breaker to the OFF position.

Lock the main circuit breaker. Use an approved lock with an approved safety tag.

caution: When you touch electronic components, use an electrostatic discharge strap.

Step 2

Remove the (4) screws [1].

Remove the cover for the transformer [2].

Attach the CABCOOL ELT ASSY [B] to the transformer [2].

Use the (2) WASHERS [I], the (2) LOCK WASHERS [H], and the (2) BOLTS [G].

Step 3

Remove these cables from the transformer:

  • White cable.
  • Black cable.

Install the cables from the CABCOOL ELT ASSY [B] and the cables you removed.

Install them in this sequence:

  • White cable with white cable.
  • Black cable with black cable.

Install the cover for the transformer.

Step 4

Remove the door [2] for the control cabinet.

Use a drill with a size 45 (0.082") drill bit [1] to remove these parts:

  • Serial number plate.
  • Machine lift instructions plate.

Use a rivet gun [3] and (8) RIVETS [E] to install the plates onto the new CABCOOL DOOR [C].

Attach the CABCOOL DOOR [C] onto the control cabinet.

Step 5

Put the power cable through the hole in the control cabinet door.

Place the bottom part of the CABCOOL MECH KIT [A] on the open section of the control cabinet door.

note: The intake filter for the CABCOOL MECH KIT [A] must always be on the bottom.

Push the top part of the CABCOOL MECH KIT [A] in. Make sure the clip [1] latches onto the door.

Attach the CABCOOL MECH KIT [A] to the control cabinet door. Use the (8) SCREWS [F]t.

Step 6

Put the power cable [1] for the CABCOOL MECH KIT [A] through the cable channels.

Use the CLAMPS [D] to secure the cable.

Connect the cable to the right outlet [2] of the CABCOOL ELT ASSY [B].

Cabinet Cooler - Test
